YAMAHA GX-1<\/p>\n

Recently I went to an outer suburb of Sydney to have a look at a special musical instrument to buy for one of my customers.<\/p>\n

A YAMAHA GX-1; An analog synthesizer.<\/p>\n

YAMAHA sold this Electone from 1975 to the early 80\u2019s.<\/p>\n

They sold for JPY 7,000,000 at that time.<\/p>\n

30 years later I managed to find and see this super rare musical instrument in Australia.<\/p>\n

I am about to organize to ship this item to Pete Townshend of The Who in London.<\/p>\n

He said he is going to put this instrument in his museum and is excited to also get the chance to use it in the future in one of his projects.<\/p>\n

Maybe you can see this beautiful piece of music history if you get the chance to visit his museum in the future.<\/p>\n

“My synth and studio museum will open in Kingston, London, in around late 2015 as part of The Who’s 50th anniversary celebrations.<\/div>\n
Certain instruments will be available at evenings and weekends for keyboard players to test \u2013 even to record if they bring laptops \u2013<\/div>\n
but mainly to confirm what we all know: that these old analogue instruments were and still are wonderful,<\/div>\n
but the computer and software instruments on offer today are an equally good way to go in the modern world.<\/div>\n
It’s fun and important to find that out, to confirm something many a bedroom musician working on a small budget already suspects.<\/div>\n
I’m lucky to be able to afford an old CS80 as well as a few software versions,<\/div>\n
and can tell you that the only thing you miss in the software version is the polyphonic after touch keyboard \u2013<\/div>\n
someone will make an affordable one soon I hope. Maybe Yamaha!!!?<\/div>\n
There is something challenging and inspiring about sitting at a great organ keyboard rather than noodling on a laptop computer,<\/div>\n
but in the right hands both can and often do produce great music.”<\/div>\n
